R.I.P. Allie Cat 06-92 to 10-08

Allie was a rescued cat. The lady that we got her from "stole" her from people who kept her chained outside. We were at a cat show and my mom swore up and down that we were leaving without a cat. We walked down this aisle that had cats for sale and we stopped at this lady's booth because she had an interesting display. The lady was holding Allie and my mom was standing next to the her. Allie leaned over and placed her paw on my mom's arm and just looked at her.

We left with Allie.

Allie was a vocal cat and she was clumsy. My mom thought it was fitting when she read an article that said that animals tend to resemble their owners. Allie was my cat and I may be a bit talkative and yes I did break my ankle walking in Keds.

Whenever The Man would come over Allie would jump on his lap and fall asleep after flirting with him. She would lay on his chest purring loudly and rubbing her head on his goatee. She moved in with him before I did:-)

She loved sleeping on me and she would drape herself over my shoulder and just purr and play with my hair. She would hit the dog for just walking by her. She was the smallest of the furry children yet she was the boss!

She would sit on my lap and just stare at me when I was upset about something. If it was a cold night she would crawl into my pillow case to sleep.

She was a good cat and she was a loved cat.

We knew that she was not doing well these last few months and I knew this was coming but damn this really stinks.

Allie and Etsy

We had a doctor appointment for Allie yesterday. So I hauled my not feeling good self off the couch and we went. Allie does have asthma and she is on an antibiotic. They took her off the other medication because it suppresses her immune system. However that medication helps her breathe but it could have played a part in her getting an upper respiratory infection. They once again suggested the whole take her to a specialist and sell your soul option which we just can't do. For one, I like my soul and second we do not have a lot of surplus moolah at this point. Also I would like to point out she is 16 and I don't think she could be put under safely and the vet even said that she would have concerns with her having the procedure. So we are treating the symptoms to allow her to have a comfortable life but we are not treating the cause. Does that make sense? It is the right decision for our little family at this point and I am okay with that and I think Allie is too since she really hates people poking at her.

Has anyone bought anything from the Etsy site? I found a lot of cute stuff but I have never ordered anything from them.

For Oatmeally

Is this better?
Picky picky!!

Anyway I did not go to work last night. I have a horrible cold and I didn't think I could stay up all night. Dorky eh? Anyhoo we took Allie to the vet yesterday. $400.00 later we have two pills and two ear drops. She is an old cat and they are sure she has an ear infection and is dehydrated. So that explains the ear drops. The two pills are for her upper respiratory infection that they THINK she has. They also think she may have a polyp in her nasal cavity. To find out for sure we have to take to a specialist and have a procedure that can cost several thousand dollars. The visit alone is $100.00 and the cheapest option was $2000.00.

Umm yeah.

Casa de German Last Name is not made of money. I am working one day a week unless I pick up hours and that will not change until next year. The cat is at least 12 years old and we just can't figure out how to swing this one. We are doing what we can and if she is in pain we will do what repsonsible people do however I am praying that the pills will work.

This really stink peeps

My Allie

Allie is my calico cat and I have had her since 1997. She is my princess and she bosses around Loki and Osiris even though she weighs 5 pounds and Loki weighs 25 and Osiris well he needs to watch his points like I do:-) Allie is quite vocal and she just wants to be petted and loved. She recently started doing this weird half sneeze/half cough sound which we thought was just a kitty cold. Now its gotten worse and when she sneezes a bit of blood is in the sneeze spray. I am terrified of taking her to the vet since I know its not going to be good news. I am being a big baby and I refuse to take her without The Man because I know that if they say the only way to get her better is to sell my kidney I will gladly do so. I need him there to talk me off the cliff and remind me that we can't spend a zillion dollars on a 10+ year old cat. This sucks so bad. I don't think she is in pain but she is sleeping a lot but she still climbs on your lap and snuggles.

I just want her to be well and live forever.
