PTSD

Hey, So my wallet was stolen two weeks ago. I was in a doctor's office with a foster child who was 6 years old. He was golden but we were in a walk in clinic and we got there at 8:45 and we left at 12:15 so golden or not he was six and he was bored yeah picture it. Anyhoo I had two packets of paperwork to fill out for him, I was trying to keep him entertained and I was on the phone with my supervisor, the DHS worker and another State worker and to say that I was a bit distracted is an understatement. My purse was on the end table right next to me however I was not completely focused on it. I was using my new shiny purple Coach wallet and in addition to the usual things that live in a typical wallet I had my mom's last driver's license. What I miss the most? Seeing her smiling face whenever I open my wallet. I am not going to lie I miss my purple shiny Coach wallet but her picture? Yeah I really miss it and I want to beeyatch slap the ass who stole my mom's picture. Also I now have a very, very mild form of PTSD in regards to my purse and wallet. I am now super aware of who is around me and I find myself looking at people and trying to assess how likely they are to steal from me which is not a way to live. Also? I have a lovely Kate Spade wallet that the Cousin got for me and now I want to use it but if I lose that wallet AND my mom's picture I may actually beeyatch slap someone. In the grand scheme of life I know that this isn't life ending but it is life altering and I don't like being suspicious of everyone that I see. Me and my First World Issues.

The week of being sick and dodging serial killers

The Man was in Mexico from Monday to today. I decided to get sick Sunday and I wasn't able to go to work until Wednesday and that was only for a half day. On Tuesday I read an article on how serial killers picked their victims. One of the ways is that they learn the victims schedule and the example that they gave was when the lights in the house were turned off. This would signify when the victim was comfy cozy in their PJ's not realizing that a crazed killer was waiting for them to go to sleepy doodles.

So what do I do?

I turn every light on in the house and then I start to turn off random lights at different times throughout the night to confuse the crazed killer watching me!

HA! Take that crazy pants I am even CRAZIER (in a non-killing way cute way)than you and it would be easier for you to choose a different victim.

Laugh if you want to but I AM STILL ALIVE so it must have worked:-) Tired but alive!!

Hello Again!

WOW
This is embarrassing in many ways. I can't believe that I haven't blogged since what January?

I realize that not one is reading this anymore but I am commenting more on other blogs and I have to say I really really miss blogging.

So what is new you ask?

LOTS!!!

The Smart Girl made her First Holy Communion and once I figure out how to post pictures again I will.

The Cousin had a baby and her middle name is my mom's first name..LOVE IT!

I got in the MSW program at another university which is making me feel all smart and stuff:-)

The Man? AWESOME as ever.

Work is going well now that I did four massive reports in ONE WEEK:-(

I am really going to try and be a better blogger. This is just embarrassing that I have neglected this bit of blogland for so very long.

So apparently I have MUNGE!

Yes that is a medical condition. I believe that it covers everything from a papercut to your head falling off on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon. The Man has been sick since last week and whooo boy I done got sick on Sunday night. I went back to work today and I had NO LESS than half the floor tell me that I look horrible and please just go home for the love of the Balded Headed Baby Jesus! I went to lunch and I got back from lunch and then I threw up lunch. Yes it was lovely indeed.

Anyway I got dressed for work this morning in a lovely comfy outfit and I thought my shoe felt odd ( the left one for those of you that are curious) but I ignored it because: A. I was running late as usual and I needed to get gas this morning and B. I didn't feel like bending allllll the waaaaay dooowwwnnn ( no, I in no way resemble a giant however my head feels like my brain is a size 4x smooshed into a XS skull) to see what the heck was going on. Anyway I got to work and I was chatting with a co-worker about how bad I looked today (lovely folks that I work with, no really) and I checked out my odd left shoe and LO it was split. The sole was split!!!!! THE HORROR!

Yeah anyway when I left work early because I had thrown up my scrambled eggs and I was all hot and sweaty (why yes I did indeed have a fever) I stopped at a shoe store and bought some black shoes (actually I bought 4 pairs but who is counting?) (Actually The Man keeps count but really he is just silly for thinking that I only need one pair of black shoes) (A symptom of MUNGE is a love for ()).

So ummm yeah hmmm what is new with you?

Oh Funny Story

Scrapbook Girl is also my nail polish shopping buddy. Really you should go with us the next time we go shopping. We are like two well dressed crack heads pushing the other to take one more hit! Yeah I watch Intervention don't you? Seriously I can't shop with her when I am watching my budget (The Man thinks I should always watch a budget, I say HA! I really don't think it is just a coincidence that we entered a ression THE MONTH that I got married and he actually gave me a budget (or something like a budget I believe he said "I like living in a house so lets watch the shopping") and we started to get out of the recession once he found a job and I could shop on a small scale again!) Between the two of us we should be getting a mighty nice Christmas gift from OPIE (a dear friend actually called O.P.I OPIE.) and her sister Essie. Anyhoo I sent her a FB message telling her that a new winter line came out and she sent me a polite reply. WHAT???

WTF!

So of course I called and said "BEEYATCH when I send you such important news you should reply " I am getting my shoes on, when will you be here?" Not something along the line of "Why yes that sounds delightful and it is a definite possibility" My world righted itself when she said she was doing job searching stuff so she was in a professional mode:-) Well alrighty then and yeah we still haven't gone shopping becaues of this MUNGE that I have however once I am MUNGE free we shall shop!

Oh happy story.

I put on one of my mommakins coats today and it still smelled like her:-)

Hola Peeps!

The flu hit Casa de German Last Name TWICE for the love of G-d!!
Yeah it was not pretty my loves, not pretty at all. I am feeling better though today so The Man and I went out today to do some shopping. We have a nice market in Livonia that I like to go to but The Man feels that it is too expensive but today I won the "discussion" so we went:-) I bought some expensive, for cheese, cheese, wine, dipping oil and yummy bread. So we had a little picnic in our living room. It was very nice and romantic until The Man and I realized that we really don't like wine so he walked to 7-11 to get 7-Up and we made wine spritzers. Yep we are so hip:-)

I have been looking at the Kindle and do any of you have any thoughts about it? I LOVE to read but I tend to be old school and I like holding the book and I have thing for the way books smell. I love the smell of an old book. Anyhoo it would be an investment so I am doing more research. The Man thinks I just want one because it is new and shiny, I tend to disagree with his assessment but whatever.

In case any of you are wondering the Cousin did indeed return the green wallet with the gold snap however she scored a black bag so all is good:-)

Hugs,

WOW

I last posted in July?!?! Really?

Hmm that is just sad very very sad but life has been crazy and not in the good way.

My mom is really struggling with her health and now it looks like she is moving in with us early next year. She has to have a shunt put in to help her not retain so much fluid (she has liver problems and her stomach is always extended which makes it hard for her to move about) and one of the side effects of this procedure is heightened confusion so The Man and I discussed it and she is moving in. We have a three bedroom house and she will have the bedroom next to the bathroom and we are going to finish the basement to increase our living space.

The Man had a CAD test which followed an interview so we are hopeful. The job is only a contract position but it will put a bit more experience on his resume and we keep hearing that the economy is picking up so lets keep our fingers crossed:-)

We have been married two years and Lord it has been quite the adventure. I would not change a minute of it though because the challenges are making us and our relationship stronger. Well that is what I am telling myself at least:-)

Hey another blogger friend got married! Check out: mylifeasacrazycatlady.blogspot.com
She was another beautiful bride.

How do you do those link things where you can just click on the text and it magically takes you where you need to go?

I promise to try to be a better blogger:-)

Fall 08, we need a do-over

So I am struggling with finding a job
Someone is struggling with possible job loss
Someone else is struggling with boy problems
Mom has to have surgery
May we have a new Fall 08?
Ok Thanks

You with the sad eyes
don't be discouraged
oh I realize
it's hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you fell so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
don't be unhappy, can't remember
when I last saw you laughing
if this world makes you crazy
and you've taken all you can bear
you call me up
because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

(Cydni Lauper)

Together we can get through these tough times. I just hope they end quickly.

Well Life is just not fair

I am at work and a youth just asked me for help with his homework. Now this youth is homeless and dealing with addictions and he is unwanted by his entire family. Now he has me for a worker (which is normally a good thing, I like my kids) but today its not a good thing.

Why?

He needs help with his MATH homework!!

Yeah The Duchess is not known for her math skills:-)So on top of his other troubles he can't finish his pre-Algebra worksheet. OY!

Also her blogging skills are lacking. I am still going through a rough time with school and my practicum is awesome but its a lot of work. Please bear with me.

Just hug someone you love

I am having a bit of rough time right now. School is crazy, my ankle throbs and the house is a mess. But I have The Man and you guys so its not as bad as I in my overly dramatic way makes it seem.

I found this blog through another blog and I want to share it with you guys. I don't suggest reading this at work (ScrapbookGirl and K-Pooh!) because it will bring tears to your eyes. But it got me thinking about my marriage. Its only been 7.5 months but our lives are so meshed together that if G-d forbid if something happened to The Man I wouldn't know where I begin and he ends. I don't mean that we don't have our own lives but everything that we do somehow goes back to us. Even when I am not with him I will file things in my mind to tell him later or call him just to hear his voice. So anyway check out the blog and then hug someone really hard and just be thankful that you have someone to hug.

A more cheerful post tomorrow hopefully.

Whats new, whats new

Hello My Lovely Peeps,

It has been a crazy week here at Casa de Duchess. The Man and Oatmeally's oldest painted the bedroom on Saturday. We didn't get the room set up until mid-week. Why you ask? Well I started work, I had to test my subject and I had a paper due. Yeah isn't that lovely? Yeah and the house is still not together and its Easter weekend. We are going to the Ohio Momma's house on Sunday after Mass. We are taking the LokiPuppyBoy. Yesterday I made appointments for Loki, me and Posie to get our hairs done. No, not at the same place like the Cousin thought! I also need to get The Man a Easter gift. It will be small but cute probably candy and a video game if I can find one that he will actually like:-)

I think I am really loving the "Real Housewives of N*W Y&RK". My favorite housewife is Countess LuAnn. She isn't as fake as the other chickess on that show.

Have a Happy Easter loves!!

The Posie is all moved and now I need a nap.

So yeah we moved on Saturday. Ohio Pops and Ohio Momma came up to help and thank you sweet baby Jesus that they did. We would still be moving boxes if it was just The Man, Oatmeally's oldest (nickname will be coming), K-Pooh and Opa doing the moving. My asthma and allergies were kicking something awful and my nose kept bleeding so I was sooo helpful:-P

Now?
I need a nap and I need to do homework. I also need to get my house in order since now all of my stuff is here. I think we are painting the bedroom this weekend:-) I can't wait.

Grosgrain Garage COME BACK!!

Don't leave!!
Don't go to the light!!
I hope everything is well with you.
We will be here when you return.

I have job interview on Tuesday (massive snow is predicted..frickin' figures)
I have homework a metric BUTTLOAD of homework
I feel like crap

So it may be slim pickings in the kingdom until next weekend.

HEY,

Wait! One more quickie, the Ohio Momma is coming up on Saturday and she doesn't know it but I have a PILE of paint color things that she and I will discuss in great detail since The Man and I can't agree and I want something painted in this house for the love of G-d!!

Oy what a life

Last week was crazy with a capital K. I had to test out of my Assessment class. I had already not passed the checkout once and you only have three tries before you flunk the entire class. No pressure:-)
So I did pass on the second try and I was a nervous wreck until Wednesday and then? I was too tired to do much else.
We had dinner on Saturday with K-Pooh, Scrapbook Girl, Blondie, The Ohio Boys (The Man is an Ohio Boy and Scrapbook Girl's husband is Ohio Boy 2 for those keeping track at home), Mr. Fix-it and Opa ( the new guy K-Pooh is dating). The company was great, the food was good, when it finally got there and the service was crap. Yep we all tipped lightly.

Sunday I did dishes and baked cupcakes. They actually turned out and everything:-)
Tonight I have a candle party to go to and the Q-Bop is spending the night and tomorrow I have Q-Bop and Laverne and Shirley ALL DAY. Lord I will need a nap tomorrow afternoon.

I feel like a bum

So we all know that I am without a job right now and I feel like a bum. I KNOW that I will get hired soon and I have a good lead on a part time job but I feel like a dork. I am a housewife and I never wanted to be a housewife. I feel like I should be out earning money or at least at home with a child. Instead I am home with a dog and two cats. I just did my bills with my last check and I am so depressed. I know things are going to change and change soon since I only want part time it shouldn't be hard to find a job but agh. I don't like feeling like a huge burden to The Man and he has been only been supportive but someone give me a job!!

The Angry British Man strikes again

I had my icky test today and the good news is that I am just "experiencing activity on the left side".
The bad news? I have a new Rx for something fun that I get to do every NIGHT.

Thank You

I just wanted to say "Thank You' to my friends, family and blog friends who have been with me the last two weeks. It meant a lot to me to know that you were cheering me on during this crappy time.

What would do think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends
*Beatles*

Thank you
Hugs to you all

A new day and all that crap

I woke up today to the sound of my ring holder (NAMBY, I think, a wedding present from a girl at school) hitting the floor with a loud clatter. I keep my three band gold/diamond ring and my pearl/diamond ring in this bowl along with my inhaler* and a lip balm. I had the mental image of my pearl ring hitting the floor at just the right angle to send the pearl flying into the gimorous pile of The Man's laundry in our room. I slowly hauled my chubby bum to the edge of the bed and leaned over expecting to see the worse and imagine my happy when I saw both my rings resting in my slippers.

That my friends is proof to me that my poopy year is going to turn the corner and become not so poopy.

*I have bad asthma. I have been known to have 3 inhalers on me at one time for you know "just in case". My asthma tends to kick it up a notch when I am stressed so I am never without one except on my WEDDING DAY. I took Friday off and on Friday night at the rehersal I realize that I don't have an inhaler because I had left it on my desk when I was digging into my pit of a purse for something..probably a lipgloss. CRAP. How did that happen?!? On Saturday while we are getting our hair and make-up done I turn to Scrapbook Girl and tell her I don't have a inhaler. She calmly replies don't worry Ohio Boy2 always has his so we are covered. Umm not good enough because what if Ohio Boy2 had a stupid moment like the Duchess and he leaves it on the dresser!! WHAT THEN I ASK YOU!?!?!? So I calmly ORDER her to call Ohio Boy2 to remind him to bring an inhaler. She realizes at this point that its always a good idea to agree with crazy people so she does. I can tell from her conversation that Ohio Boy2 is pointing out to her that he is SMART and he realizes that he needs to carry his inhaler everywhere and he would never in a fit of STOOPID take it out of his pocket to rummage around for a lipgloss (he doesn't wear lipgloss.) (Ok he doesn't wear it outside of his house he may when he and ScrapbookGirl at alone but whatever). Someone else calls The Man to tell him to look around for an inhaler because the woman he is about to marry and hopefully have a child with forgot her inhaler at work and she can't remember if she has one anywhere else. When we get to the Church Scrapbook Girl checks with Ohio Boy2 to just make sure he remembered the inhaler and he did:D

When we sit down in the front of the church The Man leans over and whispers "I have an inhaler in my pocket don't worry, I have it all under control"

I do need the help of my friends to get through this thing called "Life"
